Coding Comedy

Afnan Maqsood, Isi Ijiwere, Melissa Castillo

Can Comedy be taught to a non-human entity?

Inspired by the rise of digital humans in performance, our project investigates how an interactive Al agent can ever truly learn an art form that thrives on what makes us human: improvisational comedy.

Developed in collaboration with Allan Novak Productions, Glitchard is an Al-driven MetaHuman that brings together performance and technology. Built with Unreal Engine, Convai, and ElevenLabs, the project experiments with how digital tools can simulate comedic timing, express emotion, and adapt in real time. Glitchard explores new ways machines might participate in creative exchange: not as replacements for human performers, but as partners in play.
